Hey guys! Are you feeling too reliant on others? And you feel like they’re taking advantage of you? Do you feel like you can’t stand alone or if you do you might fall? Like you can’t be without a friend? Yes, friends are good. Lovely as a matter of fact but sometimes we need to learn to be independent. Hopefully, the following steps will help you;
1. REST YOUR HAPPINESS IN YOURSELF
To be independent of yourself, you need to rest your happiness in yourself. In doing this, your happiness won’t be dependent on anybody but yourself and no one can control your happiness. So no matter how many times you’re trampled on, you’ll always seek and surely find happiness in yourself.
2. FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF.
Your alone time is very essential in being independent. The more you know yourself, the better for you. We all need some alone time to think, reflect and meditate on things. Sort things out mentally and sketch out future plans. Don’t just live for that day but also think ahead. Knowing you have future plans not only improves your confidence but also instills the feeling of independence in you.
3. LOVE YOURSELF.
You really can’t be independent without absolutely loving yourself. Love yourself and know what’s best for you and you won’t be trampled on. Once you love yourself and know what’s absolutely good for you, you’ll be cheerful, confident and independent. You’re going to make yourself a little miss independent 😉 (to the ladies)
4. RESPECT YOURSELF AND TREAT YOURSELF RIGHT.
In attaining self independence, you need to respect yourself and your body as a whole and treat yourself right. Complaining about your belly fat or how big your thighs are don’t help. You need to appreciate and welcome yourself as you are and be proud of who you are. Complaining and nagging only gives room for other people to pierce into your insecurities and find your weak spot. Treat yourself the way you want to be treated.
5. BE YOUR OWN SELF
In being independent, you don’t let people
make decisions for you. You make them yourself especially if it concerns you . That doesn’t mean you should be cocky and shrewd. There should be a moderate level to your acceptance of advice from other people. No one is an island, we all need to see things from a different point of view
but it should be moderated.
6. APPRECIATE YOURSELF.
Be grateful for what you are and what you have and also be contented with what you have. We are all beautiful creatures and worth a million diamonds. You might wish to be as pretty as that girl in your math class or as skinny as the model in the magazine or have the skills of the captain of the basketball team but the truth is there is no one like you. Who knows? There might be people around you who are dying to be you. Be grateful for what you have and watch your confidence and independence bloom in you.
